On June 27, 1947, the Jackson Park Highlands Association (JPHA) was formed as a not-for-profit corporation.

Every household in the Jackson Park Highlands is eligible to become a member of the Jackson Park Highlands Association (JPHA), and to play a major role in its community-building efforts. Association members pay a small, annual contribution aimed at keeping our neighborhood as beautiful, friendly, and safe as possible.

The association relies heavily upon the work of tireless volunteers, membership dues, donations, and event fees to deliver on its multi-purpose mission:

  • Maintain physical beauty of properties and grounds

  • Enforce zoning laws and building codes

  • Prevent vandalism and other criminal acts

  • Provide mutual aid for residents

  • Sustain living comforts in the community

  • Develop cultural interests of its members

Membership benefits include:

  • Beautification: turnarounds, neglected lots, and historic markers

  • Safety: positive loitering, mobile patrols, monument inspections and insurance

  • Health: mosquito abatement

  • Advocacy: 5th Ward, Chicago Police 3rd District, South Shore Chamber of Commerce, Jackson Park Advisory Council, and the Obama Presidential Center

  • Annual and special meetings

  • Resident directory

  • Google group

  • Annual Fling, Garage sale, Halloween Parade and Crawl, Fall Social, Flamingo Fridays, and the Holiday Crawl

  • Neighbors Helping Neighbors

  • New neighbor welcome baskets

  • Voting privileges

  • Recognition
